Our Story
Alex Cortez launched Cortez Racing and Sales in 2022 as a full-service Thoroughbred horse training and sales consignment company located in Ocala, Florida.

His passion for horses came as a child. From a young age, he worked on a farm of racehorses and broodmares as a groom learning the basics regarding horse caring.
​
For 12 years, Cortez worked as a galloper for Rudy Delguidice Jr., a former jockey, breeder, and pinhooker, and a longtime partner of Florida-based pinhooker Becky Thomas. Under Delguidice's guide, Cortez learned everything related to Thoroughbred horse training, sale preparation, and consignment.

With that experience, combined with his love for horses and his excellent results as a galloper, Cortez started doing his own venture on a small basis: buying and training horses for lather selling them in the major juvenile auctions in Florida in conjunction with other consigners.
Cortez's great results in this enterprise finally impulsed the creation of Cortez Racing and Sales with the commitment to provide the highest level of care and preparation of Thoroughbred horses for both racing and sales.
